I just wanted to thank everyone for helping the second grade Cub Scouts with their medicine bottle service project. With the help of the school, parish and the Lafayette Drug Take Back event we collected 5,400 bottles and we logged 80 service hours!! We were lucky enough to have 2 of the board members from the Malawi Project come visit our boys on Monday. They have lived in Malawi off and on for 22 years. They showed us where the bottles will go to 600-700 medical clinics throughout Malawi and they also explained how these bottles will literally be used until they break. These people are so poor that they rarely produce trash. They are constantly finding uses for every scrap that we take for granted. It was so great to learn more about another country and culture. I truly feel the boys learned so much.
