The St. Lawrence and St. Boniface 6th-grade classes went to the Computer Science Department at Purdue on March 22nd. There, we learned what Computer Science is and what skills CS uses to problem solve and how CS is related to several other fields. We had the opportunity of learning what kind of projects the people pursuing a Computer Science major are creating. Students had a chance to interact with Virtual and Augmented reality sets at the Envision Center, learning about the VR projects Purdue students had created.
The BoilerCode Team shared information about their hackathon/workshop for middle school (6-8 grade)and high school students (9-12 grade) interested in computer science. This year, it will be held on April 14th from 9 am – 5:30 pm. It is completely free to attend, and participants are accepted on a rolling basis.
