What a great event last evening!
Music – Music education encompasses all sorts of learning and situations. Some of this musical learning goes on in the classroom in the form of weekly music and band lessons and at other times in the school structure, for example Mass, singing/playing assemblies, celebrations, choirs, and programs. Music is an extremely important subject for all children to learn and can lead to better brain development, increases in human connection, and even stress relief….aww!
St. Boniface came to join our St. Lawrence band members for an impressive performance led by our band director Mr. Isaacs. Band has really grown over the past few years thanks to Mr. Isaacs dedication! Awwsome!
Our 4th thru 6th grade students were COOL in the Furnace with their performances including kazoos, directed by Mr. Wells! Ever heard of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego? We learned a lot about how they stood up for their faith even after being thrown in the fiery furnace! And King Nebuchadnezzar learned a lot from them also! How COOL is that!
Our church director of music, Mr. Kevin, who also works with our students weekly, was here and added that special touch to the program!
The set was created by our art teacher, Mrs. Drerup! Most definitely a work of art AND heart!! With her guidance, our students learn so much about art. The production of art involves imagination and critical thinking processes. The kinesthetic student is also stimulated because they manipulate art tools and their hands. The production of art can guide us through higher levels of thinking and contemplation of our environment. The production of art can be found everywhere. You can find it throughout our building!
Most importantly, the creation of music and art is the expression of the heart, mind and hand.
Mr. Wells, Mr. Isaacs, Mr. Kevin, and Mrs. Drerup – thank you for your talent and love of the Arts and the special way you share with our students and all of us! We are Blessed! And Congratulations to our students for performances to be proud of!! SO COOL!!!!
